What is the fastest way to get my trades in?

Connect a brokerage read-only. The first sync backfills the history your broker reports and then keeps running on its own, so there is nothing to type. If your broker is not supported yet, a CSV gets you to the same place.

How long does the first sync take?

Usually a few minutes. Large multi-year histories can take longer on the first pass; after that, syncs are incremental and quick.

Do I need to journal forward before anything is useful?

No. The calendar, the metrics and the time-of-day reports all read history you already have, so the first uncomfortable pattern usually shows up the same evening you connect.

What should I set up first?

Two things: connect your broker, then set up a handful of strategy tags. Tags are what turn the reports from interesting into actionable, and they take about five minutes.

Is it safe to connect my brokerage?

Connections are read-only and handled by SnapTrade and Finatic, bank-level aggregation services. There are no API keys for you to generate, and nothing in the pipe can place, cancel or modify an order.

My broker is not listed. What now?

Import a CSV in the meantime and tell us which broker you need. We add brokers on request regularly - recent ones have gone live within a day or two of being asked for.

How often does it sync?

On a rolling schedule through the day, and you can trigger a sync yourself any time with Sync Brokerages in the header.

Can I connect more than one account?

Yes. Multiple accounts and multiple brokers can run side by side, and every screen has an All Brokerages filter so you can look at one or all of them.

Does connecting let TradeOlogy trade for me?

No, and it never will. The connection is read-only by design - TradeOlogy can see fills and positions, and nothing else.

What happens if I disconnect a broker?

The trades already imported stay in your journal. Only future syncing stops.

What CSV formats do you accept?

Most broker exports work as they are. If the columns are unusual, drop the file into Ask Oly and it will work out the mapping - including formats we have never seen before.

Will importing twice duplicate my trades?

Duplicate fills are detected and skipped, so re-importing an overlapping file is safe. If something does slip through, you can delete it from the trade log.

Can I mix CSV imports with a live broker connection?

Yes. A common setup is a synced main account plus CSV history from an old broker.

Can I add a single trade by hand?

Yes - Add Trade in the trade log. It is there for off-platform fills, not as the main way in.

Usually a currency, multiplier or timezone column being read differently than you expect. Send us the file and the symbol and we will look at the actual rows.

Is there an import size limit?

Nothing you are likely to hit. Very large files may take a minute to process; multi-year exports are fine.

A trade is missing from my log.

First check the date range and the brokerage filter, then run a manual sync. If it is still absent, send us the symbol and date - most cases are the broker reporting a fill late, and we can confirm what came through.

Why is one position split into several rows?

Scaled entries and exits should roll up into one position. If they have not, it is usually because the broker reported them under different order IDs. Tell us the symbol and we will fix the grouping.

What does the Partial status mean?

Part of the position is still open. Realized P&L reflects what you have closed, and the rest keeps updating until the position is flat.

My open position P&L looks stale.

Open P&L uses the latest price your data feed has. Outside market hours it will sit at the last close.

Can I delete or edit a trade?

Yes, from the trade log. Edits are for correcting genuinely wrong data - deleting trades because you did not like them defeats the point of a journal.
